I started playing what my father was playing on the piano when I was 4 (in 1962), and started lessons when I was 5. I took private lessons for 14 years and have been playing ever since. Now I play and teach Piano, Guitar, Flute, and Trumpet, and have recently started to learn Violin, and Alto Saxaphone.
Recently, I have started playing and making American Indian style Wood Flutes and hope to accompany myself on my next CD with an original Flute.
I also tune and repair pianos. I've been tuning pianos since about 1973.
It's been a dream of mine for most of my life to be on an album - so to have come out with my own solo piano album is a dream come true.
I like a lot of different styles and have had several different influences through the years. A couple of my students took me to a David Lanz concert in 1990, and I've been focused on mainly playing New Age style piano since.
Last Summer, I started playing the Oboe with the Ashland Summer Band. It's been an instrument that I have always wanted to learn. I had a great time and signed up with them again this past Summer. Now I might look around for a local orchestra that I can sign up with to continue learning.
